We want each student-athlete who participates in Providence Day Boys Basketball….middle school through varsity….to have a great experience! The
many life lessons derived from participating in sports….such as commitment, self-discipline, responsibility, team work, and accountability….will be developed through our PD Boys Basketball program.
PD Boys Basketball is structured around two (2) main guiding principles. One being, Team First. This simply means that we must put team goals ahead of individual goals and accomplishments. We encourage our players to set individual goals for themselves, with our coaches working in step with each player to help them achieve those goals. However, we (players and coaches) must not let our individual actions, behaviors, desires, and goals interfere with, nor disrupt, our team culture.
The second principle that we want our players to embrace is that Preparation breeds Confidence. Our players should expect success! However, we feel that the only way that we can truly expect success is through intense, purposeful preparation. The time, effort, and attention that we commit to our preparation directly correlates to our level of confidence. If we are intentional about our preparation, our confidence will grow. If our confidence level is high (grown through preparation), our chances for success will grow as well.
