Providence Day School Baseball has a strong history of success. The program
has won three state championships, in 1988, 1997, and 1998, and were state
runners-up in 1992, 1996, and 2013. Earned thirteen state tournament
semi-finalist runs and several record setting seasons including 1988, when the
team went 26-3, and 1992, when the team finished 22-3. Additionally, the
Chargers have won seven conference championships (1988, 1989, 1992, 1997,
1999, 2007 and 2016) and were named conference runners up in 2018.
Additionally, in 1998 PDS was declared the Charlotte Observer’s “Sweet 16
Champion” a rare and deserved honor.
The baseball program prides itself in developing young men through the sport of
baseball. Character traits like hard work, leadership, commitment, and mental
toughness are embraced by the players and reinforced by the coaches.
Comprised of a MS, JV and Varsity team, players train throughout the year.
The off season training program consists of a multi phase training system. Phase
one begins in August with strength and conditioning in the wellness center and
batting training in the on-campus batting facility. Phase two begins in January
with on the field training for position players, pitchers, bullpens and field hitting
when weather permits. This program develops its players as student-athletes,
leaders and as men preparing them for success on and off the field throughout their careers.
