BACK ON TOP! Providence Day Girls Golf Captures First State Championship Since 2015

Chargers cap undefeated 10-0 season with a dominant 12-stroke victory, completing a championship sweep.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The wait is over. After 11 years & back to back NCISAA Runner-Up finishes the Providence Day School Girls Golf program is back on top.

The Chargers captured the 2026 NCISAA Girls Golf State Championship, delivering a commanding 12-stroke victory to secure the program’s first state title since 2015. The championship serves as the crowning achievement of a remarkable fall campaign that saw Providence Day go undefeated, capture its third consecutive CISAA Conference Championship, and establish itself as one of the state’s premier girls golf programs.

From the opening match of the season to the final putt of the state championship, the Chargers displayed consistency, composure, and a championship mentality.

A Perfect Season. A Championship Finish.

Providence Day entered the postseason riding the momentum of a flawless 10-0 regular-season record, having put together an impressive collection of victories across some of the region’s most challenging courses.

The Chargers earned significant wins at the Forsyth Country Day Invitational and the Legion Collegiate Invitational, as well as multiple victories at Cedarwood Country Club. Their annual team trip featured rounds at Highlands Falls Country Club and Highlands Country Club, reflecting a program that not only strives for excellence but is also about friendship and fun.

Regardless of the venue or competition, Providence Day continued to deliver, showcasing the depth and talent that would ultimately carry the team to a state championship.

That consistency also translated into conference dominance, as the Chargers claimed their third consecutive CISAA Conference Championship, further cementing their place atop the league.

But this group had its sights set on something even bigger.

One Year After Heartbreak: SUCCESS

The ultimate goal was clear: bring the NCISAA State Championship trophy back to Providence Day.

And the Chargers did exactly that. Just one year ago on the same stage the Chargers fell just short of an incredible comeback finishing Runner-Up after taking the state title into a playoff scenario.

But this year, on the state’s biggest stage, Providence Day delivered its most significant performance of the season, finishing 12 strokes ahead of the competition to claim the NCISAA crown.

The victory marked a historic moment for the program, ending an 11-year championship drought and securing the school’s first girls golf state title since 2015.

It was a fitting conclusion to a season defined by preparation, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Three Chargers Earn All-State Honors

The team’s championship success was complemented by outstanding individual performances throughout the season.

Mali Pillai, Paris Chen, and Dora Na each earned NCISAA All-State recognition, highlighting the exceptional talent that helped power Providence Day’s historic run.

Their individual achievements, combined with the collective efforts of the entire roster, played a pivotal role in the Chargers’ undefeated season and championship success.

A Season to Remember

An undefeated 10-0 record. Three consecutive conference championships. Three All-State performers. And now, an NCISAA State Championship.

The 2026 Providence Day Girls Golf team has written a new chapter in the program’s history.

More than just a collection of victories, this season represents the dedication, determination, and competitive excellence that define Providence Day Athletics.

Congratulations to the Providence Day Girls Golf student-athletes and coaching staff on an unforgettable season and a well-deserved NCISAA State Championship!
